Remembrance Day Poems

The Poppy

In the poppy there are some seeds.
Each seed represents the ones who died
And when the seed falls
A new life will grow.

- by Emett

At the grave the soldiers lay
Representing all the thought they gave.
We still think of all of the fighting days that they so valiantly gave.
That protection and freedom we enjoy today.

- by Jacey

I wear the poppy proudly
To remember those who passed
As they fought ‘til their time was up.
That’s why I wear the poppy proudly
To never forget those who had to leave.

- by Bryanna

The Poppy Grows
Airplanes boom, guns blow, bombs drop
But the poppy still grows.
People shout, people fight, people scream
But the poppy still grows.
Children scared, children missing, children go away
But the poppy still grows.
Soldiers die, soldiers rest, soldiers remember
But the poppy still grows.

- by Sam

In the grave my Great-Grandpa lays
Thinking about his fighting days
He may have fought at the sea in bays
If I were to meet him some day
I wonder what he would say?

Remember
Poppies can grow anywhere,
Graves can’t.
Why do we sigh when people in our life die?
The poppies remind us of those we lost.
The brave, the strong, those who protect us.
My Uncle Mike was one.
We’ll never forget what he’s done.

- by Jesse

The poppy is bright red
But the soldiers that died lie on a bed
Under the ground the soldiers are dead
But the peacekeepers help keep peace
The soldiers help us be free
I wish there was peace everywhere

- by Nick
