Our Priorities
Wild Rose School has established
the following priorities and goals for the
2007/2008 school year. These priorities are a
result of the collaborative efforts of students,
parents and staff. Read about Wellness,

WELLNESS
a) Recognize the
emotional growth of all our students through
special programs. These include Wolf Leadership
Team Initiatives, Caught Being Good coupons,
birthday announcements, and recognition of
extracurricular and out-of-school achievements.
b) Promote staff wellness. Organize staff
socials, birthday cake draw, secret pal at
Christmas and special recognition of individual
achievements. c) Promote a
feeling of parent membership in the school by
involving parents at all levels. This includes
working with the School Council to enhance
home/school communication,, organizing parent
activity evenings, such as paired reading and
reading intervention sessions and maintaining a
library collection on pertinent parenting issues.
d) Continue to provide opportunities for
professional development of staff by: a
professional development component during staff
meetings, allocating necessary resources for
out-of-school professional development, and
promoting in-school mentorship opportunities
RESPECT
a) Institute a
pro-social skills program to enhance personal
responsibility and good citizenship. Students have
been taught active listening skills, a Manners
Matter program and Friendship Skills. This year
our focus is on Teamwork and Heroes.
b) In collaboration with students, staff
and community, develop a Peace Plan containing the
guiding principles, expectations and consequences
for behavior.
SUCCESS
a) Create
flexibility in the timetable through block
scheduling to better accommodate a diversified
curriculum and individual differences, eg.,
regularly scheduled Mission Possible sessions and
specialized computer instruction. b)
Continue to involve all students in more
structured writing experiences and self-
evaluation of that writing. c)
Continue to develop higher order thinking
activities in Math and integrate these throughout
the curriculum. d) Continue
to develop computer literary skills including
multi-media applications (CD Rom and Internet) to
augment research and critical thinking skills.
e) Communicate priorities to parents and
community through newsletters, student agendas,
School Council initiatives, creation of a home
page, parent information board, and parent
information evenings.
